CHARITIES

The altruistic side of Eddie and his wife is seen today in various philanthropic interests, notably as patrons of CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading children’s cancer charity, and the Amber Foundation, an organisation working with unemployed and homeless young people including ex-offenders, ex-drug users, alcoholics, and others who need support to rebuild their lives, skills and self esteem so they are motivated to seek employment.

In addition, as a keen drummer, Eddie’s band ‘Eddie & the Robbers’, play at many charitable functions and in April 2009 released the single ‘You Make Me Smile’ on Universal Music in aid of CLIC Sargent.

Eddie was also on the board of the Special Olympics when the event was held in Ireland and is passionate about supporting children and adults with all kinds of disadvantage in life.

Here's what Amber had to say about Eddie:

"Eddie first visited Amber in 2004 and immediately grasped the importance of the work we do in helping unemployed homeless young people to turn their lives around. Since then, he has devoted a lot of time to helping us raise vital funds, in particular through his brainchild event, Amber Rocks www.amber-rocks.org. He has also helped to promote Amber through the Suit to Success campaign and even busking in Covent Garden! The time he gives through such events and his visits to the centres where he spends time talking to the young people there, mean a great deal to everyone at the charity, not least the young people themselves."

Amber

transforming lives

Here's what CLIC had to say about Eddie:

"Eddie has always displayed an incredible energy and commitment to giving something back, and to supporting the work of CLIC Sargent in any way he can. Eddie has been totally committed throughout our journey together and has strongly fought towards his belief that every child and young person with cancer should be eligible to equal services and support. Eddie has always been creative in his ideas for further fundraising, encouraging his peers to follow his wonderful example to help fundraise, and that’s something we’re always going to be incredibly grateful to him for."
